seceder, secession, independence

Welcome to Seceder.com!  Dozens of new countries have emerged, worldwide over the past few decades.
More are on the way.  Can you believe how many new secessionist movements there are globally?   Please see for yourself:

By the way, have you heard of the relatively new country of Andorra?   Back in 1993 that locale (which is just north of Spain and has fewer than a hundred thousand people) got its own seat at the United Nations. Of course, we do not assert that costly membership in that dues-collecting bureaucracy (which is heavily influenced by anti-democratic dictators) is anything of which to be particularly proud, but anyway...   Andorra is now a tax haven country with reportedly the world's 2nd highest life expectancy. Nearby, Catalonia's voters (including in Barcelona) tend to favor secession from Spain and are awaiting a referendum on the subject.  Meanwhile the growing quantity of separatist voters in Quebec, Canada, as well as in Scotland (etc.) are taking notice...
With every human on Earth dying of old age, if you must pay taxes then doesn't it seem like it's time to similarly pursue local control of how they are spent?   Or do you want to continue having national debt-accumulating central planners (who are typically located too far away) decide for you, while such administrators enrich themselves at the expense of your wallet and opportunities?

"The people have the government that they deserve."  -Benjamin Franklin

"Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master!" -Thomas Jefferson

"If you are willing to rob Peter to pay Paul, Paul is more likely to vote for you."   -Anonymous

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."  -Plato

"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man - brave, hated, and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."  -Mark Twain

The bigger the world economy, the more powerful its smallest players.” “The world's trends point overwhelmingly to economic interdependence and political independence."  "The advent of the technological revolution has given the people of the world a new drive to find themselves and to assert their right of self-determination. There has been a spike in the number of recognized countries around the globe in the past 30 years. Don't believe me? Go look at an encyclopedia from 1980 and then look at the list today."   -John Naisbitt (author of bestselling books Megatrends 2000, and Global Paradox)

"If pro is the opposite of con, then what is the opposite of progress?"   -Anonymous
